Frequently asked questions
Do I need a 1D or a 2D scanner?
1D scanners read traditional linear barcodes. 2D scanners also read QR codes, PDF417 and codes on phone screens — useful for payments, coupons and healthcare. If you are unsure, a 2D scanner covers both.
Will the scanner work with my billing or ERP software?
In most cases, yes. Scanners connect over USB, keyboard wedge or Bluetooth and type the scanned data straight into your software. We test it with your system during set-up.
How far can cordless scanners move from the base?
Many cordless models work up to about 30 m from their base station, depending on the model and environment.
Can scanners read damaged or poorly printed barcodes?
Many of our 2D imagers are designed to read damaged and low-contrast codes. We’ll recommend a model that fits the labels you actually use.
